Winter skiing and snowboarding with three ski centres each within an hour's drive of Kingussie.


With the
River Spey running through Kingussie you do not have to go far for great fishing. Permits available locally.Canoeing, waterski-ing, sailing, windsurfing can all be enjoyed at a choice of two watersports centre's nearby Loch Morlich, near Aviemore and Loch Insh, near Kincraig.
Almost every town (including Kingussie) in the area has it's own
golf course -and all are off the highest quality in magnificent surroundings.The
Highland Wildlife Park is four miles along the A9152, with Insh Marshes in sight of Laggan Cottage. Although over 20 species of bird have been spotted in and around the cottage itself - from robins to golden eagles!

For History enthusiasts, Ruthven Barracks (formerly a castle) is less than two miles away and can be seen illuminated at night from the lounge. Less than an hour's drive will get you to several other historic sites, such as Culloden Battlefield and Visitor Centre which is closely associated with Ruthven Barracks from the time of the routing of the clans in 1743.
The Highland Folk Museum in Kingussie itself is a five acre site showing how folk lived in a Highland township in 1700. The black houses have been reconstructed following archeological excavations nearby.
